Frank's Story

My husband, Frank, had a vibrant spirit touched everyone he met, whether sharing a laugh, listening to his favorite tunes, working on his muscle cars or offering a helping hand to a neighbor in need. He was a devoted friend, husband, and uncle—someone who believed in the power of community and the joy of coming together. The second annual FRANK FEST is not just a tribute to his memory, but a testament to his generosity and love for life.

In November 2020 during the pandemic, after having Rotator Cuff Surgery in October, he developed symptoms that shouldn't be associated with the surgery. His family physician immediately ordered blood work which revealed his bilirubin levels were way off. A CAT Scan showed a tumor blocking his bile duct and a stent was placed to keep the duct open. Initial cell biopsy returned Stage 1. He elected to have a Mini- Whipple surgery in December 2020. Those eight days of not being able to visit him the hospital to be his patient advocate because of the pandemic were torturous. The final biopsy returned a rare and highly aggressive Stage 4 tumor. Chemo started six weeks later but the cancer had already metastasized to his liver. Frank passed away in July 2021 at the age of 47. Not only did he battle courageously during those nine months, but he also battled with his Bipolar Depression making it difficult for him to stay positive. But, he loved a good party and live music!

As we gather again this year in his memory, let us remember the importance of early detection and support for families facing pancreatic cancer. Our collective effort, no matter how small, can lead to breakthroughs that give others hope. Let's raise our glasses, enjoy the music that Frank cherished, and unite in the fight against pancreatic cancer—because every note played and every dollar donated brings us closer to a cure.
