Together, supporters have contributed more than $2 million to advance this important work.
Activity

“I was among the first GES award recipients and developed pioneering patient models for studying prostate cancer in men of African origin. This seed funding has since driven multi-million-dollar federal grants, advancing critical research on cancers disproportionately affecting Black patients worldwide.”
- Kosj Yamoah, MD, PhD

“Selection as the GES Inaugural Scholar was a key reason I joined Moffitt in 2021 and has been one of the highlights of my career. This award has given me a platform and financial resources to accelerate critical work exploring how lifestyle change can lower cancer risk and improve survivorship among Black Americans.”
- Tiffany Carson, PhD, MPH

“Funding from GES was crucial for exploring questions like how ancestry influences test results for assessing breast and ovarian cancer risk. These topics often fall outside traditional funding priorities, so this support was key to advancing my research.”
- Alvaro Monteiro, PhD
